Jim Olson
Waste Management Specialist
Since joining the IWRC in 1988, I have been proud to contribute to the organization’s growth and to witness our services and expertise expand over the years. In my current role as Waste Management Specialist, I provide waste management and environmental compliance assistance to Iowa small businesses through on-site consultations.
Providing free, on site reviews helps small businesses better understand their waste management practices and stay on top of regulatory compliance, giving them more time to focus on running their business. As a former Director of the IWRC, I have a deep understanding of our services and use that perspective to support clients in a meaningful way.
Building lasting connections with both clients and staff is what has kept me at the IWRC all these years. I find great purpose in knowing that my work reduces stress for small businesses throughout Iowa and contributes to a healthier environment.
When I was young, I always wanted to operate a greenhouse and I have focused that passion into gardening and composting as ways to reduce waste outside of work.
