FOOD WASTE!

With help from the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, students will be presented with a variety of food scraps and excess food they must make the stars of their dish.

Showdown Schedule

  • 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. - Ingredients are unveiled and teams will have a chance to plan their meals while the rules and judges are introduced.

  • 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. - The timer will begin and students will have 1 1/2 hours to successfully create a dish utilizing the food scraps available to them.

  • 7:30 - 8:00 p.m. - Students will present their dishes to the judges who will taste and score dishes with award presentation immediately following.

Oh, and did we mention that attendees get to see it all go down? Stations will be set up in the Iowa Ballroom and attendees will be able to watch on big screens what’s happening or by peeking in from a front row seat.

Throughout the event, hors d'oeuvre will be served and the bar will be open so be sure to join us to watch food waste turn into a delicious meal.
