Welcome to Lamoni, Iowa's page for the Iowa Rural Communities Food Waste Reduction Project!
The project, funded by the Rural Utilities Service of the United States Department of Agriculture, allowed the IWRC to provide community-level food waste reduction assistance to four Iowa rural communities from October 2016 to September 2017, one of those communities being Lamoni. The IWRC was able to work with residents throughout the community, Graceland University, and Lamoni Community Schools. Read the results of the food waste audits and sorts, as well as the recommendations and strategies now in place throughout Lamoni to reduce and recover food waste in the case study.
This project began October 1, 2016 and will continue to September 30, 2017.
