Dan’s capabilities at the IWRC have continuously grown from being hired in 1994 as a waste reduction specialist, becoming the Iowa Air Emissions Assistance Program manager in 2001, senior program manager in 2009, Associate Director in 2013, and transitioning to the Interim Director role in July 2017.

He works closely with regulatory agencies and other organizations to build relationships, oversees IWRC's programs and services, and continually seeks funding opportunities for continued and new programs. 

Dan’s educational background includes a B.S. in Environmental Science from Wesley College, an M.A. in Public Administration from Drake University, as well as being a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (1998), Certified Energy Manager (2008), LEED® Accredited Professional (2009), and is an active member on the U.S. EPA’s Clean Air Act Advisory Committee.
